Berner Industries is reinforcing its position in Finland’s industrial market with a major investment that will significantly increase the company’s liquid product tank capacity. The expansion will take place at multiple locations by 2027, raising total storage capacity from 25,000 cubic metres to 45,000 cubic metres.
This growing storage capacity supports Berner’s strategic objective to enhance delivery reliability and secure raw material logistics to meet customer needs across Finland.
Investments in Pori, Kokkola and Loviisa – Strengthening the Port Network
At Tahkoluoto in Pori, Berner Industries’ operations are already well established, and the use of two tanks enables the storage of various liquid chemicals in addition to lye, in accordance with the required permits. The port infrastructure in Pori is developing rapidly, and nearby companies are expanding their operations.
“We have been able to respond to market needs quickly and flexibly while modernising our operations in Tahkoluoto,” says Olli-Pekka Taivalmaa, Head of Sales Support at Berner Industries.
“Automation and process systems have been further developed to ensure that logistics within the port area run smoothly and reliably 24/7, every day of the year.”
The tank capacity development programme extending to 2027 is progressing through two new port investments:
- A new storage facility in Loviisa will open during 2026
- New tank capacity in Kokkola will be built by 2027
These expansions support Berner’s goal to strengthen the liquid products supply chain and provide customers with even more comprehensive logistics and storage solutions nationwide. “The investments made in Pori have been timely and successful. We have proven our ability to carry out challenging projects effectively. The upcoming expansions will once again take our operations to the next level,” concludes Taivalmaa.
