Our customers are continuously facing significant changes in their operating environment. The situation in the European chemical industry is challenging due to weakened competitiveness, geopolitical uncertainty, tariffs and tightening EU regulation. The competitiveness of the food value chain in international markets is also under pressure. In this context, Berner’s role – captured in our slogan “Protecting tomorrow” – is increasingly important: our mission is to secure our customers’ operational reliability and competitiveness, even in uncertain times.
Coaching leadership develops our organization
We continue to develop coaching leadership in line with our strategy. Our aim is to provide a consistent, high-quality leadership experience that supports employees in managing their own work and helps everyday operations run smoothly. As expectations continue to rise, we remain committed to ensuring manageable workloads and the wellbeing of our people. Self steering, responsibility, together with seamless collaboration, are essential to maintaining our agility and competitiveness.
Core business and growth at bulk-products
The cornerstone of our core business is strong expertise in the import and export of powder bulk products. By combining our customers’ volumes, we are able to secure the availability of raw materials on the market at a competitive price.
In our growth initiatives for the coming years, we will strategically focus on significantly increasing the share of liquid bulk products in our portfolio, without weakening our strong expertise in powder bulk products. We have displayed our readiness to invest in the necessary infrastructure – for example by securing tank terminal capacity – and we will continue this work. In Scandinavia, we support growth by systematically developing our warehouse network for powder products.
Sustainability and circular economy driving expansion and acquisitions
In recent years, investments in our industry business area have been strategically directed towards manufacturing companies, such as Chemigate and Voda Nordic, as well as infrastructure. Through acquisitions, we have complemented our offering in a situation where suitable targets direct on the distribution side have been difficult to find. We will continue our active and systematic efforts to identify acquisition targets that strengthen our business and value chain, and that support sustainable and profitable growth across our operations.
